The weather this past week has been unusually cool for August, and I just had to take advantage of it. This involved recruiting my mom (http://fiberobsessive.blogspot.com/) and my sister for a girls' night camping. We picked a nearby state park, and of the 105 primitive sites, we were one of six to occupy the campground. It was cool, quiet, and peaceful. The following day we hiked the trails and these are some of the random shots I took.

While avoiding the absolute pleasure of drawing up wedding contracts, I created these cyanotype pieces. It all started when I began to reminiss the days when my passion was high contrast black and white images. So, after capturing some groovy abstract black and whites, I took a break to write up my contracts (needless to say, this contract process has taken me several days). Then not even halfway through the second page, I got to reminissing about college and the classes I took. I never got to take the alternative process class where cyanotypes were made because they changed it to a digital class or something my last semester in college. I rather miss college. Sometimes it's nice to have a professor give you an assignment to contain and challenge your creativity. From this thought process I proceeded to google cyanotypes. And this is what I ended up with by merging the nostalgia of old passions and college.

We have had a rather stormy summer, and not exclusively to weather. But despite the turmoil, I was able to find solace in the beautiful after-storm skylines. The photograph of the double rainbow is particularly special to me, as it apeared over my house the day my grandfather left this earth.

Last week I got the pleasure of hanging out with Mikayla while she was in town visiting her dad. We went hiking, swimming, and made jewelry. Then, on her last day here, I took some photos of her and her dad together for the first time since she was four years old.

Meet Dan and Olivia. I followed them around, snapping anything cute they did. I swore I would narrow the shoot down to six bloggable photos, and couldn't do it. So here's the best thirteen!

I admit that I have been rather negligent of my blog lately. Then, today, I was going through my spring photos that are in need of scrapbooking and came across these images of Spirit and her new companion, Olivia. I chose the first image because I love how you can see the special bond between the two, and I chose the second image because I went to the shoot knowing there's not much more beautiful than a silhouette.
